Vision For the Future Capital Campaign

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and The Zoo Society are engaged in an effort to continue the excellent tradition of successful and award-winning programs and exhibits at our community Zoo.

The Zoo Society's $5.15 million private capital campaign, combined with $2 million of citizen-approved Metro Parks Tacoma bond funds, will ensure that Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium continues to fill its vital role in the community.

There are four exciting components of the campaign:

1. Animal Avenue, the final phase of our immensely popular Kids' Zone, features family-friendly experiences and 17 new species including meerkats and lemurs. Animal Avenue opened May 2008. 
2. The Cats of the Canopy exhibit will provide a home for one of the planet's most secretive endangered species, the mysterious clouded leopard.
3. Red Wolf Woods, a new exhibit, will tell the inspiring story of the most successful conservation program in North American history.
4. The Permanent Endowment Fund will enhance programs for all of Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium well into the future.
